CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Urban Adventure Camps is unique week-long day camp that takes campers on fun, educational fields trip adventures every day of the week. Camp begins each morning where campers meet their group to begin and plot their day's adventure. Groups visit the Bay Area's best museums, parks, galleries, science centers, and various other urban attractions and city centers. Public transportation is used to travel between locations, thereby developing the campers knowledge and confidence when traveling within a city. SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
We are looking for responsible kid friendly camp counselors for our summer 2017 camps.  Imagine taking daily field trips around the Bay Area to all of your favorite places. At Urban Adventure Camps you will get a chance to play hard and work hard, all while experiencing the Bay Area.

Our summer counselors get the opportunity to explore and learn right along side the kids. Whether it's an exciting week of learning science at places like the Exploratorium and Bay Aquarium, or a week of art visiting places like the De Young and the SF MOMA. Of course the fun doesn't stop there! There are daily field trips to the Bay Area's top museums, science centers, and urban attractions just waiting for you! Requirements: We want people to apply who have a genuine love for and interest in working with children. Some experience is necessary. We would like to hire counselors who are a minimum of 18 years of age and be in at least their first year of college. Must have valid authorization to work within the US. CAMP FACILITIES: Mariposa Day Camp, located in Altadena, offers themed weeks with several different emphases for girls to choose from. Girls participate in new and traditional Girl Scouts activities while making new friends, developing self-esteem and making lasting memories. Introducing new and exciting activities this summer such as a brand new gaga court, low ropes and team building activities plus kids kitchen which gives each girl the opportunity to prepare a fun and different snack each week. The themes for each week provide additional activities and enjoyment for the campers. All day camps include daily snacks, a camp souvenir, any badges earned, and a 4X6 camp group photo. Let’s journey back in time to when Laura Ingalls Wilder was a young girl. Campers will learn all about life on the prairie through hands on activities like making butter, sewing, and playing games from the past. CAMP COUNSELOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Brief Description: Camp counselors at Pali Adventures are responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of campers. They supervise campers in a cabin setting, at mealtimes, and during activities. Counselors are in charge of facilitating activities throughout the day. Counselors work as a team to ensure all campers have a fun and memorable experience at camp. Counselors report directly to their Specialty Director and Group Leader.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Exhibit characteristics of responsibility, dependability, leadership, patience, punctuality, hard work, sense of humor, self-control, integrity, common sense, good judgment and a positive enthusiastic attitude.
 Complete the staff application and interview process.
 Attend staff training (May 30 – June 12) and all in-service trainings.
 Must have completed high school and be a minimum 18 years of age or older as of 5/30/20.
 Desire and ability to work with children.
 Other duties as assigned

Staff members are entrusted with the care and safety of young children in a rustic setting replete with natural and man-made dangers. All staff members must have the ability to respond immediately to an emergency. Any staff member with a disability that may affect the Staff Member’s ability to physically perform these requirements should immediately inform the Human Resources Department to determine possible reasonable accommodations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Serve the campers as a positive role model.
• Camp staff members will actively supervise campers both in assigned cabin groups (typically 10 campers and 2 counselors) and at assigned specialty, elective, evening and weekend activity programs.
• All campers should feel comfortable, safe and included.
• Learn the likes and dislikes of each camper in your care by showing genuine interest.
• Recognize and respond to the opportunities for problem solving in the group.
• The counselor is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of each camper within their cabin group and with whom they come into contact. E.g. drinking water, daily showers, teeth brushing, active supervision during rest/ down time, application of sunscreen and lip balm, appropriate attire for the activity they will be attending, etc.

• Provide opportunities for each individual to experience success during camp.
• The staff member must never leave campers unsupervised.

• Develop opportunities for positive interaction between campers and staff.
• Provide opportunities for each individual to experience success during camp.
• Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations.
• Know where your campers are at all times.

Other Job functions
 On a rotating basis, all staff members will be scheduled to assist with the serving of meals
 The staff member may be required to transport campers in camp vehicles in a safe acceptable manner, obeying all posted safety regulations.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Levels: There will be four levels at the camp: MathCounts/AMC-8, AMC10/12, AIME, and USAMO.

Curriculum: Each week will be devoted to one of the four main areas. The focus will be on Number Theory and Algebra/Analysis in Period-I and Geometry and Combinatorics in Period-II.

CAMP FACILITIES: MODERN FACILITY: Broadway Gymnastic School is a stateof-the-art gymnastics and children’s fitness facility offering all equipment used in the Olympics as well as trampolines, mini tramp, tumble trak, creative obstacle courses and the zip-line (a favorite among our campers). We also have an activity room, lunch room, arts & crafts room, dance studio and free wi-fi.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our spectacular gymnastics and sports camp incorporates exercise and education into a fun-filled day program. Gymnastics is paired with a variety of sports, arts, drama, field trips, and an exciting array of activities captivates all ages until the camper goes home at 12:30 or 3pm. Before and after care is available and can be arranged at registration.

ACTIVITIES/TRIPS: Gymnastics is the foundation of our 2015 fitness day camp activities. Ball sports, swimming, arts and crafts, drama, music and dance round out the curriculum. We are also known for our educational field trips: Kid Concepts, Whale Watching, Sky Zone, Aquarium of the Pacific, California Science Center and Adventureplex.

Dance, music, art and science activities are scheduled throughout the summer. Campers get the chance to try new activities, discover new talents and gain confidence in themselves. Other special themed days include Bring- A-Friend Day, Karaoke, bounce houses, zip-lining, plus Water Days filled with water balloon activities and swimming adventures. At the end of each week BGS will host a Friday Night Traffic Jam Party from 3-3:30pm!

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS: Your child’s day will begin with gymnastics. Our training emphasizes the educational as well as the physical benefits of gymnastics such as concentration, self-discipline, psychological and emotional development, social adjustment and artistic expression. Camp programs designed by the Cates are applauded by parents for the educational benefits, safety standards and enjoyment their children receive during the program. J.T. has been an integral part of the Camp program for many years, he has a B.F.A. in Acting from the University of Connecticut and has had an accomplished career in the Theatre on Broadway.

Camp staff have backgrounds in child development, physical education, psychology and recreation as well as gymnastics. All staff are first aid & USAG certified. Broadway’s first rate staff & our commitment to our students makes certain all campers get the most out of each day!

COMPETITIVE TRAINING: An innovative summer training program has been designed for our pre-competitive and competitive gymnasts. World-class coaches train boys and girls for all levels of competition. Videotaping, dance and gymnastic related outings are planned for enrichment and cross training. We welcome competitive gymnasts who are vacationing in Los Angeles to join us.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: We created our Coach in Training (CIT) program for children ages 10-15 years as a way to transition older campers. It is an excellent opportunity for campers to gain valuable work experience and foster responsibility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: From the first camp that we ever held, our goal was to allow your children to explore the many wonders of technology, giving them the opportunity to explore technologies that for some were unimaginable. In our camps we offer topics in 2D game development, 3D game development, web design, electronics, 3D character design, and other topics on varying platforms taught by our knowledgeable instructors. Your child will be exposed to a large range of topics over the course of the week.

Katerina Romanenko, Ph.D. Assistant Director of Youth and Family Programs

An experienced educator and visual culture historian, Dr. Romanenko specializes in Museum education, art history, American History, and object-based learning in formal and informal environments. She holds a PhD in Art History from the City University of New York and for more than 15 years teaches art history and works in Museum education. She also holds a BA in Education Sciences and has experience in research, development and implementation of educational programs for different age groups.

Alicia Mino, Art Educator, Manager of the School and Community Programs

An accomplished practicing artists and art educator, Alicia Mino received her Master’s in visual communication from the Metropolitan University of Chile, She spent fifteen years in Italy studying art history, oil painting, and sculpture. She presented in numerous art exhibitions and founded the Mates Art and Design Studio, where she taught drawing, oil/acrylic painting, and sculpture fundamentals for ten years. In 2008 Alicia moved to Philadelphia where she continues to exhibit her work and teaches art.

Lindsey Murphy, Art Educator and K-8 Program Coordinator

An art educator with over a decade of experience in the field of education, Lindsey Murphy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology; concentration in Archaeology from Millersville University, and an Elementary Teaching Certification from Millersville University. She worked as a general education classroom teacher in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County, PA for 8 years, and has worked in PAFA’s education department over the past 11 years creating and implementing numerous museum tours and art making experiences for children and families of all backgrounds, becoming the K-8 Program Coordinator in 2019..

Melissa Hendrixson, Art Educator

Melissa Hendrixson is an artist and art educator who has worked in Museum Education for over five years. She has her Bachelor's of Fine Arts and Studio Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and has gained experience through assisting the coordination and development of various museum programming including family programs, youth art classes, and summer camps. She now works for the School and Community Partnership Program as an art educator where she develops and implements museum tours, school lessons, and community outreach programs to support student learning, parental engagement and visual literacy initiatives.

CAMP FACILITIES: River Way Ranch Camp operates as a resort 9 months out of the year when camp is not in session. Campers stay in air-conditioned cabins, and sleep 8 to a room, with two counselors. Cabins are complete with a private bathroom and shower, closest and sink area. River Way Ranch Camp is a beautiful facility, complete with stables, basketball and tennis courts, three pools, an on-site lake, and a high and low ropes course facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: River Way campers are divided into divisions. The Buckaroos (ages 7-9) have two counselors with each cabin group at all times. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The students build and create a different robot each week with a take- homekit! It is a fun and exciting way to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) through this hands-on class. Students will build projects from a walking puppy to a T-Rex and more.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: We offer classes throughout the year for children ages 6-12 years old. We concentrate in using robotics kits to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Students get hands on building experience while enjoying learning.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camps take place in our theater and surrounding spaces. We have a mainstage, a green room/rehearsal room with mirrors, and some outdoor rehearsal space. We also share space with the Foster City Recreation department, and a local school.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory, formed in 2000, is a theatre arts education program serving the needs of youth and adolescents, ages 4-18, in Foster City and the mid-peninsula area.

• An in-depth, training ground for young people who want to learn any aspect of theatre and performance.

• Valuable life skills, gaining, confidence in a professional, supportive environment. The need for artistic experience, whether as audience or artist, is universal.

•Hillbarn Theatre is committed to the concept that non-professional performers and technicians, when led by our staff, trained professionals and guest artists can produce performances of high quality that generate personal and artistic growth.

It is important for the students of performing arts and for performing arts in general that Hillbarn Theatre sustains the educational programs for youth vis-à-vis our ongoing Conservatory sessions, and to explore the development and initiation of YEAH! (Youth Embracing Arts at Hillbarn), a program to foster growth and offer a supportive outlet for all students of performing arts including marginalized and developmentally disabled youth.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Hillbarn Theatre Conservatory is a year-round performing arts program, providing theater, voice and dance training at local schools and through our own classes. Our summer program takes place over 8-weeks and camps range from 1 week part-time to 4 weeks full-time.

All camps conclude with live theatrical performances on our mainstage.

CAMP FACILITIES: This is a day and residential camp for interested students.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Levels: There will be four levels at the camp: Programming, USACO Bronze, USACO Silver, and USACO Gold. During the camp, adjustments can be made to the level (depending on space availability) if faculty and student agree that a different level would be more beneficial to the student. Maximum capacity for each class is 16. Our small class size lets us have different learner groups in the same class (ex. beginner, inter, advanced). Each group may different topics and problems based on their level.

We would like to maximize student potential so that we don't limit student learning with lecturing-to-all style teaching. In this way, students can proceed on their own paces. Curriculum: The students will be equipped with necessary background in lectures and trained with different types of problems to master various problem solving techniques.

The classes are problem solving-based and the curriculum is aligned with USA Computing Olympiad (USACO). Lectures are given by A* Faculty and other instructors who have participation and/or training experience in national/internationals Olympiads such as USACO and International Olympiads in Informatics.

Performance halls include the new Lowman Concert Hall, IAF Theatre, Stephens Recital Hall, Holmes Amphitheatre, and the Junior Players Theatre.

The Krone Library houses resource areas, classrooms and a museum.

Dance studios, rehearsal halls, film studio and practice rooms are located across the campus.

The new Margaret Cargill Commons, located at the heart of campus between Lowman Concert Hall and the IAF Theatre, offers areas to relax, converse, and mingle.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We offer Family Week each summer, with arts courses available to family members of all ages. Families may take courses together or pursue their individual interests during the day, then come together as a family at meals and in the evening. Activities include hikes, lectures, and special courses, including a Musical Improv session presented by Laura (Whose Line is It Anyway?) and Rick Hall.
